History
Our story began in 1958, when Dermot Meehan purchased the
entire estate, including Bellingham Castle. Dermot spent several
years converting the castle into a hotel. He ran it as a hotel for 13
years and sold the hotel and 17 acres in 1967.
Then in 2012, the hotel was acquired by the Corscadden family
and it is run as a fabulous wedding venue now.
The remaining 70 acres of the estate is still owned by the Meehan’s Today. Dermot’s son, Des, now owns the estate with his wife Margot.
With help from their son Mark, they transformed Bellingham Estate into a place of peace & serenity after a 5-year restoration project of the Coach Stables, which must be said, was a “labour of love”!
Des’s engineering background married well with Margot’s end vision. Margot’s attention to detail and eye for interior design has made Bellingham Estate a breath-taking place to stay.
